Vysoké Tatry - Ĺ˝abĂ vrch JavorovĂ˝ - 2177 m
Popis-štítu / Description:
Žabí vrch Javorový is wide and large mountain with steep grassy faces. There are two summits, SE - 2206 m and NW - 2177m. It is separated from Predná Javorová veža (tower) by Predné Javorové sedlo (saddle) and due to many new routes there are newly named features: Predný Javorový hrb (hump) and Žabie Javorové sedlo (saddle) (note: in Polish nomenclature these features are mentioned under different names and for longer time). It is separated from Štít nad Zeleným (peak) by Sedlo nad Zeleným (saddle). Two summits are separated from each other by Žabia priehyba (flexure). The summit ridge is actually a walking terrain. The peak is not important for summer climbing. In winter, if the ice has been formed, there are nice mixed grassy - icy routes available on the steep grassy slopes of SE face.
Zostup zo štítu / Descent:
1. There is a so-called Horičkový úplaz (gentler slope) sloping downward to the Rovienky (valley) and to bottom of Bielovodská dolina (valley). Walking terrain.
2. To Javorová dolina (valley) - from the SE summit follow the ridge to the north, above the Rovienky until you reach NW summit, then traverse to the Sedlo nad Zeleným. Continue down the steep gully (you can rappel from the right side wall in the saddle), which becomes milder when closing the valley floor (walking terrain). The slopes are prone to avalanches in/during winter!
